Dr. Carla Rae-Gunn Samson, MD

Dr. Carla Rae-Gunn Samson is currently the acting Director of Women’s Health at the Community Health Services. She has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to women of all ages, covering a diverse range of specialties including, but not limited to reproductive health, menopause management, and minimally invasive surgery.  

Dr. Gunn-Samson’s journey into medicine began with a passion of improving the lives of women through compassionate healthcare achieved by truly listening to the needs and concerns of her patients and seeking to better understand each patient as an individual in order to create a complete treatment plan tailored to their needs. Dr. Gunn-Samson graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed her OB/GyN residency at St Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT.

Beyond her role as a skilled medical practitioner, Dr. Carla is an entrepreneur. Recognizing the importance of a holistic well-being and the void in treatment options in some areas especially menopausal medicine, she has ventured into the realm of aesthetic medicine and wellness by founding her own medical spa, Hibiscus and Honey Medical and Aesthetic Laser. The medical spa stands as a testament to her commitment to enhancing the confidence and vitality of her clients. The med spa offers an array of services, including facial and body laser treatments that cater to a diverse range of skin concerns and skin types, including persistent acne and hyperpigmentation.

Dr. Carla also employs bio-identical hormone therapy to address hormonal imbalances that can affect women's well-being during different life stages. Additionally, her med spa provides body contouring treatments, medical weight loss medicine and vaginal rejuvenation for treatment of stress urinary incontinence and painful intercourse underscoring her holistic approach to health and beauty. Dr. Carla currently resides in Hartford, CT with her three children and husband. She is an active member of the Greater Hartford Chapter of Jack and Jill Incorporated, as well as the Epsilon Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In addition, she is a member of The Greater Hartford Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. Her civic involvement underscores her commitment to the larger community.
